The Vicar - Fr. Cliff Bowman
Before being ordained Fr. Cliff worked as an Assistant Warden in St George’s Crypt, a night shelter in Leeds. He served two curacies, first in the parish of All Saints’ Sawley (1982-5) and then in the Team Ministry in Hucknall (1985-89) where he stayed to cover the interregnum. He then became the Rector of Warsop with Sookholme, a large training parish in the Nottinghamshire coalfields. In the year 2000 he became the full time Chaplain amongst Deaf people for the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham and was licensed as the Vicar of St Andrew’s in 2006.
A graduate of Durham and Nottingham universities, Fr. Cliff trained in Spiritual accompaniment at Loyola Hall Jesuit Spirituality Centre, and holds a graduate certificate in Ignatian spirituality from Heythrop College, London. He attended Theological College in Cambridge and was ordained in 1982.
Fr. Cliff is married to Dot, a nurse practitioner. They have two daughters and two granddaughters both born in 2015.
Assistant Curate - The Rev'd. John Jenkins
Born in Woolwich, John studied electronics at the University of Southampton before getting his first job working for British Telecom. He then went back to university to train to be a teacher and spent the next 13 years teaching at a number of schools in Surrey. After this he retrained to start a career in I.T. and worked for a number of companies in England before moving to Germany in 1995 to work first for Lufthansa and then for I.B.M. He retired and moved to Uxbridge in 2010. Two years later he experieced a call to the ordained ministry and, having been accepted, trained at St. Mellitus College London. He was ordained in 2014. John is married to Rosemary and has two grown up daughters, Ruth and Rachel.
Parish Curate - The Rev'd Angela Lewis
After graduating from Portsmouth University, Angela worked for several years for Agape Ministries in Birmingham and London. She then spent 13 years in Admin, HR and Business management in the Telecoms industry and in Investment banking. Prior to going to Theological College in Nottingham Angela worked for three years as the full time Mission and Discipleship Co-ordinator at St Michael’s Church in Paris where she worked with the bilingual congregations to develop a programme of Café church for young professionals, messy church styles services, and Alpha and Growing leaders courses.
Angela is the Parish Curate, which means that she divides her time between St Margaret’s, the Town Centre ministry and St Andrew’s.
Church Warden - Sue Leatherby
Sue is a woman of many talents. She grew up in Harefield. She spent the early part of her working life as a secretary in a variety of places including Trimite, where she met her husband, Jim. Later she worked at the Greenwood veterinary clinic where as well as doing the admin she also learned to castrate cats!
From 1994 to 2014 Sue worked as a residential social worker at Charles Curran House, a home for adults with profound mental and physical learning difficulties.
She is now the Welfare and Admin officer at a Church Of England Primary School in Sunning Hill, Ascot.
Church Warden - Dianne Deeks
Dianne brings a wealth of work experince to her role as Church Warden. She worked for over eleven years in the patterns department of Sanderson's Fabrics, then as a sales and customer advisor for ten years in a local Garden Centre before finally becoming a retail analyst at Sainsburys' head office supporting their stores all over the country. Dianne retired in 2005 but in reality she is now busier than ever! She is married to Mike and they have two grown up children and two grandchildren
Pastoral Assistant - Rosie Halford
Since leaving school Rosie has worked in the accounts department of a number of Solicitor’s practices. She is now based in Uxbridge where she works as the accounts supervisor of a recently combined practice. Rosie is one of the key lay ministers at St Andrew’s. She has been a Churchwarden and is a Pastoral Assistant and also leader of the Welcome team and co-ordinator of the Pastoral Care team.
Rosie is the person who you ask when you need to know someone or something. She is also amazingly humble and has a good sense of humour, which is a real blessing in someone so efficient! Rosie is married to Lee and they have two sons, Christian and Jonathan.
Director of Music & Treasurer - Lee Halford
After leaving School Lee worked for the Bank of England for 24 years before giving it all up to follow his passion for music. Since then he has been a peripatetic music teacher working for the Hillingdon Music Service. Lee was the organist at St Joseph the Worker, Northolt from 1976 - 1983, at St Martin's West Ruislip from 1983 - 1987 at which point he was appointed Organist and Director of Music here at St Andrew's. Since then we have had a flourishing Choir and Church Orchestra.
